WHY IS TRAVEL INSURANCE IMPORTANT?

Your provincial health insurance may only cover a limited amount of emergency medical costs. Review the plans below and choose the one that works best for you and your family. With travel insurance you can cover not just travel medical costs, but also baggage loss, travel accidents, trip interruption, trip cancellation and more.

Extend an existing plan

Top Up coverage allows you to purchase coverage for extra days if:

  • You already bought a Multi-Trip Plan from us.
  • You bought a similar product (often called an "annual plan") from another insurer.
  • Or you have coverage through your credit card provider and/or employer.
For example, suppose you bought a Multi-Trip Plan with up to 10 days of coverage per trip. However, during your period of coverage, you planned a trip for 15 days. In order to have emergency medical coverage for the whole 15 days, you can purchase a Top Up from us for the extra 5 days of that particular trip.

If you would like to buy this product to add to the coverage on an annual plan from another insurer, or travel insurance provided by your credit card provider, it is your responsibility to confirm that top-up coverage is permitted on your existing plan and any terms and conditions that may apply as a result. The Top Up Plan has all the benefits of the Single-Trip Emergency Medical Plan.

Get coverage for your Visitors

Do you have visitors coming from another country? If so, they may not be covered by our government health plans if they require medical attention – and that can result in very high medical expenses. You can help them or yourself with the financial protection of a Visitors to Canada Plan. This plan meets the mandatory Super Visa insurance requirements.

Single-Trip

Covers many expenses related to a medical emergency for visitors while in Canada, including:
  • Emergency medical attention
  • Ambulance transportation
  • Emergency medical return home
  • Expenses related to death
  • Paramedical services, like licensed physiotherapists, chiropractors, podiatrists and more
  • Emergency dental treatment
  • And much more
You can choose from one of 5 maximum coverage amounts: $15,000; $25,000; $50,000; $100,000; or $150,000

Trip Interruption

Add this option to the above coverage to help protect visitors from expenses related to the need to return home due to an unexpected event.

Anything can happen during months away from home

If you or your child will be studying abroad or in another province, that means many months away from home. Medical coverage is important, not just in case of emergencies, but for more routine medical services as well as the cost of tuition in the event that a medical emergency prevents you from completing a semester.

This plan is also available for students from another country studying in Canada.
